How to choose the best Korean body lotion for dry skin?
There are a few things you need to consider when you’re buying a body lotion for yourself, whether it is for fundamental upkeep of your body or an intoxicating splurge that your body deserves on long days.
Regardless of the purpose, you do not want to spend money on something that can potentially ruin your skin. It is unlikely, but if you have sensitive skin, some body lotions might react to your skin.
- Keep a note of your skin type
Needless to say, if your skin is dry and dehydrated you most definitely need an extra moisturizing body lotion. Not only will it quench the thirst of the skin, it will also help prevent loss of moisture.
When it comes to oily skin, however, be careful while choosing lotions. Try water based lotions that are light. If the contents have ingredients like mineral oils and waxes — avoid. These will just clog your pores further and cause eruptions on your skin.
Finally, most important, people with sensitive skin — you have to be careful in the sense that your body can’t take anything you feed it. So making sure you pick a lotion that’s free of as many additives as possible is the most desirable form of nourishment your body needs. By additives, I mean fragrances, dyes and preservatives. Another tip could be looking for body lotions that are labelled hypoallergenic.
People with sensitive skin must always, without fail, rub a small amount of lotion on the inside of their elbows or side of their arms to see if it causes any form of irritation to them. It could be in the form of redness or bumps.
Another category, often ignored, is matured skin. Matured skin has its own set of needs. The ingredients in the Korean body lotion that you buy should fulfill these needs. They should work towards erasing fine lines, or at least prevent further ones, alleviating wrinkles and age spots. It is important to choose a body lotion that exactly works well for you to give you beautiful, healthy and glowing skin.
- Check the ingredients
This section is more about what to look for so you can avoid buying it rather than the ones that will help you pick the body lotion to do your skin some good. I strongly suggest you avoid lotions that have any hint of preservatives that often come labelled as parables. Another thing to dodge is ammonia derivatives in the lotion.
These materials can immensely harm your skin. The best way to pick a lotion without much deliberation is to pick clear and white lotions. The ones with dyes and colors also have a history of reacting with the skin.
Towards the end of this piece you’ll find a list of helpful ingredients to look for when it comes to your particular skin type. That will help you make a more informed choice about what you’re feeding to your skin.
- Do a patch test!
Patch tests are for more than just people with sensitive skin. It comes into play especially when you’re about to try a new brand. It also is about the matter of comfort. When you apply the body lotion to your hands, it should absorb quickly and not leave a post-application greasy feeling.
When you’re trying a new brand of Korean body lotions, try asking to sample it first so you know you like the feeling and the fragrance. If that is not available, buy a smaller bottle first. Speaking of fragrance, it always helps to buy a body lotion that resembles your perfume so that the smells don’t clash.
- Don’t empty your pockets
Honestly, price is not the best indicator of body lotions. From the range of my favourite body lotions. One is a $7 bottle of wholesome goodness, and one is a $33 pump bottle that makes me feel good and keeps my skin hydrated.
It all depends on your budget, but mostly on what suits your skin. Let the budget be the filter but not the deciding factor in your decision to buy the best Korean body lotion for you.

What are the reasons for dry skin:
- Weather: skin is usually extremely dry during the winter season as opposed to humid weather regions. However, if you live in desert areas, you might experience dry weather year long.
- Heat: heaters, burning stoves, central heating can dry your skin so it’s better to avoid places as it reduces the humidity.
- Hot showers/baths: Long showers with hot water can increase skin dryness and so can chlorinated swimming pools.
- Skin diseases: If you have skin problems like eczema, psoriasis etc. then your skin is bound to stay dry.
- Harsh soap or detergents: shampoos, soaps and detergents that have high chemical compounds rip off skin moisture and are extremely drying.
Why is it important to use body lotions for dry skin?
Our skin does so much more for our bodies than we realize. It is the single most important protective layer around our organs that prevents anything from happening to us. Think of it as the ozone layer of our bodies, which protects us from the harsh UV rays and dust, smoke, air, and whatnot.
Applying a generous amount of body lotions is our way of being gratitudinous to our skin and helps it fight dryness and flakiness in order to strengthen its forces to continue fighting these enemy substances.
Besides, aging and wrinkles can be a problem if you let your skin remain moisture free. Every shower you take rips your body of its natural oils. It is important to keep replenishing your skin, even if it is artificially. If you’re worried about feeding your skin chemicals, look for products with more natural ingredients.
It is the out of sight parts like elbows that usually slip our minds and demand the most moisture. Look at them go as they help you rest your hand on table tops and arm rests. Do they not get upkeep for keeping you upright?
Moisturizing your skin helps it create an invisible protective barrier that not only boosts the skin’s productivity but also helps retain whatever goes in. A good and effective Korean body lotion will do that for you.
In fact, I’d suggest you always pick a lotion with SPF so you don’t have to unnecessarily layer creams. But make sure it is a good amount of SPF to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
Tips for dry skin:
- Keep your body moisturised 24/7. Don’t let it stay dry as it will turn flaky.
- Exfoliate when showering as it will remove all the dead skin cells
- Don’t take shower with extremely hot water as it leads to dry skin. Take cold showers instead
- Avoid harsh ingredients’ drying soap, use a mild formula soap
- Choose fabrics that are soft on skin
- Eat hydrating meals and drink a lot of water
If you’re wondering why the Koreans have such clear skin, free of blemishes, any irritants and are just plain smooth, their body lotions are the secret weapon! Take care of your bodies now, will you?
In the list below, you’ll find a variation of Korean body lotions. Pick the one that you think suits you the best!
I have reviewed these body lotions from Korean brands based on their moisturizing power, their annoying ability to leave a white cast post application and of course how gentle the ingredients are on the body. After all, it’s something you’re going to use when your skin is at its gentlest form, which is post-shower.
Esthete Aloe Hand and Body Lotion
Best Korean Body Lotion for Dry Skin and Damaged Skin
For a long time, I used this body lotion everyday. There is nothing not to like about this.
I found that the way this Korean body lotion is most effective is when I lather my body with the lotion right after my shower while the body is still damp. That is the best time to lock in moisture in any case, but this worked extra well.
I don’t know whether it was the timing of it all, or the fascinating ingredients. Of course, the shea butter and the hyaluronic acid in the body lotion allowed hydration to seep into my skin, but it was the fullness of the ceramides in the body lotion that helped seal in that moisture. It made my skin almost glow and look radiant.
I was also impressed by how calming it was against my skin. I don’t think it was just the aloe extracts. The olive oil in the lotion also came into play.
Interestingly, the olive oil was cold-pressed, that just added to the benefits. My skin was rash free and scratch free until I took my next shower and just applied it again!
The lotion also claimed that the allantoin helps reduce scars and help cell rejuvenation. Well, while my skin did feel hydrated all the time, without any white cast after applying, I did not see the little scars on my body disappear after even months of application.
Regardless, this Korean body lotion gives more than it’s worth, and the easy pump bottle just makes it so much easier to use.

Nella Oneday Whitener Magical Lotion
Best Korean Body Lotion for All skin Types
I usually stay wary of skin whitening lotions because they’re loaded with chemicals. Not just that, they usually also have an artificial white cast on the body that makes one feel like you obviously used something to get unnatural fairness in the skin.
Glow is one thing and fairness is another, but with the Nella magical whitening lotion, it seems like the same. I stand by this skin lightening lotion.
It is not a permanent solution of course. It only works as long as it stays applied on your body and your skin will seem normal as soon as you wash it off. But for as long as you have it on, no one can tell it isn’t your real skin tone.
I’m not pro skin lightening in general, and wouldn’t advocate it either, because wanting to change skin tones is a by-product of popular culture. Nonetheless, the reason I included this Korean body lotion in the list is because it is supremely moisturizing and the post-application actually results in a skin shade lighter without that artificial look.
My skin wasn’t dark enough to see a lot of changes, so I made a friend of mine try it. I couldn’t believe how natural the skin looked even when artificially lighter.
As far as ingredients go, niacinamide plays a huge role in the skin lightening as well, even though it is slow. Apart from that, the witch hazel extracts help in reducing blemishes on the skin.
I wore this lotion on a hot day, and I have to say, it didn’t wear off despite the profuse sweating! That’s why I would suggest it to those with oily skin as well. I was impressed, but I don’t need it anymore. I just bought it to see if it works and it does!
ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream
Best Korean Body Lotion for Dry Skin and Sensitive Skin
This is one of those Korean body lotions that really stands out because of the indigenousness of the ingredients used in it. The body lotion uses completely Asian homegrown ingredients such as the angelica acutiloba root, ginseng root water and lilyturf.
If you have especially sensitive skin or are looking for an all-natural option, this is a great choice.
As the name suggests, the body lotion is loaded with ceramides. Ceramides in a lotion can only do you good. The lotion felt deeply hydrating and nourishing.
After trying it out myself I gifted another bottle to my animal-loving, vegan best friend and she was impressed by the ingredients and the effects it had on her skin.
Almost immediately after 2-3 uses, her skin started to feel gentle, supple and almost had a kind of firm bounce to it. I’d know, I may have found excuses to feel the newly soft skin, in a non-creepy way.
I loved how I could just carry this tiny tube in my bag and use it on my face also. Yes, it suits both the face and the body! It was their patented ceramide complex that enabled this and the ability to boost the skin as a barrier and fight off impurities.
Another thing I absolutely loved about this Korean body lotion was its fast absorbing nature and long lasting impact. What else do you need? And no, it does not leave a white cast. If any cream does — do not buy it!
