I was recently fortunate enough to be provided with a free sample pack of natural hair care products from CUSH Cosmetics to try and review for the blog. This company is out of Frisco, TX (close to home), and their products are all-natural, so I was extremely excited when the owner contacted me about this opportunity!
The owner, by the way, was very helpful, answering any and all questions I had, staying in constant contact with me throughout the entire process…wonderful customer service! Thank you, Toni!

Each product has their own unique smell, they are wonderful scents that linger but are not at all over powering. D kept opening each container to smell them, after each one saying “mmm, this one is my favoriteâ€, lol.
When our package arrived we were in the middle of a protective style, so I waited until I took D’s small box braids out to try these products.Their detangler, Uncoiled, was put to the test! As we were in the final days of our box braid style she had gone swimming at her grandmas (when she is at her grandmas, they don’t do hair) and the braids unraveled a lot and the hair became tangled. I washed her hair with the remainder of the braids still in, applied some conditioner and some Uncoiled and began finger detangling. Much to my surprise the tangles came out with ease and not much use of a comb. I did use a rat tail comb to help get the braids out and a wide tooth comb to go through her hair once I had the braids out and the hair finger detangled.
Once her hair was down and detangled I added some Moisturize Me, her hair wash so soft and shiny. D wanted to wear her hair down and curly, after all it had been in those little braids for 2 1/2 weeks. I let her wear down for a little bit and after it dried it looked so good, we had to have a photo shoot!
I could tell her hair was getting some tangles, so before she went to bed I took some hair from each side and put it in pig tail braids to prevent further tangling. We got busy the next day, so she just wore the pig tail braids that day and the next day I took them down to style. I sprayed her hair with water and began to finger detangle, expecting to need more detangler. Again, to my surprise I didn’t have to add much more Uncoiled. For the most part the tangles slid right out, there were a few knots that I applied a small amount to, but adding the water reactivated the products that I had applied almost 2 days before! Before starting our next protective style I applied some of their Moisturize Me all over and began parting for twists and bantu knots. I used the CUSH mango pomade on each twist. Since this was a protective style I did not secure the twists with rubber elastics, so I put the remaining hair from two twists into a bantu knot and used a Goody Ouchless Cloth band.
The pomade held the twists well, she wore this as a style for 3 days. Then I took it down for a flat twist/bantu knot out, her hair was defined, shiny, soft and frizz-free.
The next time I washed her hair I tried out the shampoo bar. I had never used a shampoo bar before…so this was a first. I rubbed the wet shampoo bar in my hands, creating a lather, then applied it to her scalp. It is a moisturizing bar and it got her scalp clean without drying out her hair. As with any shampoo, I followed by conditioning her hair. I used the Huile Supreme, which was nice, thick and creamy. I used the Uncoiled to aid in finger detangling. This time I applied the Hydrate Me all over for moisture and let it dry. Her curls were defined and soft, not weighed down at all, in fact her hair was “bigâ€, but not frizzy. D and I both loved it!
I did try the shampoo bar and conditioner on myself and daddy tried it too. The shampoo bar worked well for us both, but the conditioner was a little bit too heavy for my hair, (most of D’s conditioners are).
Overall, I enjoyed my first experience with a shampoo bar. I completely fell in love with the Uncoiled detangler, it is the best detangler I have found for D’s hair, so I had to order a full size bottle! Shipping time was incredible, I placed my order and it was in my mailbox 4 days later! Also, the shipping is free for the month of June!
